Go Into Your Inner Room And Close The Door
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you”
Matthew 6:6
Yesterday I shared with you concerning our understanding of where our “inner room” is and, of course, the big clue is the word “inner.” While some may view the inner room only in terms of the proverbial prayer closet, I see the inner room as the “inner room” - It is the room within us, the inner court of the temple, where we meet with God as priests in His presence to minister to Him.
A prayer closet may be fine, although the term sounds a bit dark and confining to me, but the true “inner room” is always present, within you, and is always available for you to enter so you may be in secret with your Abba Father.
“Close the door” is what Jesus said and this represents leaving the world, and our own self-awareness, outside, on the other side of the door, when we enter our “inner room.”
We “close the door” to signify that we have come to our “inner room” with a specific understanding and purpose, namely, to be with Abba Father, Son and Spirit and no one else.
To be fully alert for us is to be fully aware. When we enter our “inner room” let us be alert and aware that it is always and only about entering the presence of our Lord, that we may be with Him “who is in secret.”
Certainly we are invited to make our requests known to Him, and pray, and worship, and give thanks, and be still, and contemplate, but always with the highest regard for, and acknowledgment of, our God’s holy presence.
Without this deliberate and joyful focus, upon our Lord, we risk becoming spiritually dull and indeed may miss the meat of what is available to us, and Who is available to us, when we pray.
O beloved child of God, enter “your inner room” today with thanksgiving, “and pray to your Father who is in secret,” for He is awaiting your presence in His presence. Hallelujah!
