The Difference In Our Newness Is The New Covenant Spirit Of God
Today’s Word Of Encouragement From Wayne:
“Our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life”
2 Corinthians 3:5-6
This verse of Scripture tells us that, as true Christians, we are in a “new covenant” which is “of the Spirit” and that “the Spirit gives life.” Therefore, by contrast, we also see that the old covenant is “of the letter” and “the letter kills.”
So, is it important for us to identify and live in the New Covenant? The difference is literally between spiritual life or death.
The New Covenant is Christ Himself, God’s only begotten Son, Who is now our indwelling Lord and Savior.
Speaking through the prophet Isaiah God said of “My servant” (42:1) that “I will appoint you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the nations” (42:6) and again, “Thus says the Lord, in a favorable time I have answered You, and in a day of salvation I have helped You; and I will keep You and give You for a covenant to the people” (49:8).
Christ Himself is our New Covenant and we are new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is where the life is! This is where the Holy Spirit is! This is where we receive life, walk in life, and rejoice in life, all because we are new creations in a New Covenant, which IS Christ our Savior.
Live as a grateful new creation today in the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, and you will be “of the Spirit” and you will be experiencing the truth that “the Spirit gives life.” The New Covenant truly is life giving to your new creation. Hallelujah!
